The Employment Program at Reception House Waterloo Region (RHWR) was initiated in August 2018 as a three-year pilot project. Designed to facilitate the integration of refugees into workplaces, the program strives to collaborate with employers to secure employment opportunities.
Key Components:
1.Pre-employment Support: This phase encompasses employment needs assessment, orientation to Canadian workplace culture, WHMIS, and OHSA training.
2. Initial Workplace Support: Providing employment placement, job site tours, HR orientation, and assistance with travel logistics and workplace integration.
3. Ongoing Vocational Support: This aspect assists clients in accessing government and social services, addressing settlement issues, and facilitating communication and workplace integration for partner employers.
Participants undergo comprehensive preparation for the Canadian workplace, leading to enhanced financial security and a heightened sense of belonging. The program also contributes to community and systemic changes.
