More than 700 other refugees came to Reception House in 2023, and we expect just as many if not more in 2024. Many of the obstacles and barriers they face cannot be mitigated with government programs alone.
That has inspired vital Reception House programs like the Family Partnership Program, New Canadian Youth Program, Working Together, Welcome to Play, and English Outreach, which thrive thanks to a network of over 250 volunteers and donations from people like you. Together, we can continue to build and maintain these creative, simple, and profound solutions to the unique challenges our refugee families face.
Here are just a few examples of how you can #GiftHope to our newcomer families this holiday season:
- $50 provides a backpack filled with activity books, toys, and fun supplies for a school-aged newcomer child.
- $100 ensures that people have access to crucial information about support, services, and educational materials available in multiple languages.
- $200 provides a Welcome Kit filled with essential items newcomers take with them as they move into their first Canadian home.
- $500 places a Chromebook into the hands of a newcomer family and provides critical one-on-one Digital Literacy instruction.
- $1000 provides critical physical, mental, and dental health support not covered by government benefits.
When newcomers have everything they need to rebuild their lives, they can look ahead to the future with confidence.
#GiftHope this holiday season!
With your support, we can ease the adjustment for our refugee families, assisting them along the path to self-sufficiency, belonging, and achieving their potential.
