Annual General Meeting

September 28, 2023

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our AGM on September 28, 2023. It was a wonderful celebration of the work we do and a coming together of the community to support refugees making Waterloo Region home. We appreciate the support from mayors McCabe and Vrbanovic who brought greetings and engaged in conversation with attendees. We are also very grateful to Sue Nally from Crow Shield Lodge for bringing the land acknowledgment and helping us to reflect on what reconciliation means to us as we welcome newcomers to our community.

2023 Ride for Refuge

September 23, 2023

Thank you to all the amazing riders, walkers, and donors who supported this year’s Ride for Refuge! A special thank you goes out to United College at University of Waterloo for hosting the Ride! We appreciate the coming together of community to support refugees making Waterloo Region their new home. The funds raised by this event will support Children and Youth programming at Reception House.

Festival Season

August 31, 2023

Reception House was out in the community this summer raising awareness about refugee issues and the need for affordable housing. We were joined by artist, Pamela Rojas and her giant puppet representing the importance of diversity in our community. We enjoyed connecting with community members and sharing stories of refugee resettlement in Waterloo Region.

Circle of Connection

July 29, 2023

On July 29, we hosted our first annual Circle of Connection event to recognize our amazing volunteers and build relationships between volunteers and clients. Over one hundred people attended the event and joined together in fellowship and fun activities like a water race, bowling, hula hoops, soccer, and a world map challenge.
