Accumetal Manufacturing is a partner of Reception House’s Working Together Project (WTP). As a metal fabricating business located in Stratford, Accumetal is a leading producer of fabricated metal components for off road equipment manufacturing industries – Rail, Defense, Mining and Recycling. Many of their employees are skilled trades people. Through WTP, 14 employees were placed with Accumetal.

Finding skilled workers is a challenge for specialized firms like Accumetal. The company chose to take advantage of the slowdown during COVID-19  and to invest in their team. Partnering with Technical Training Group, (TTG) they are training current employees in welding, one of the critical skills necessary for their business’ success and growth.

Recently TTG and Accumetal held an assessment day and invited 10 employees who might be interested in learning new skills. From these 10 employees, 8 were clients of Reception House and part of the Working Together Program. Eight employees were selected and taught basic welding safety, welding theory and given the opportunity to try welding. From this group, 7 employees were selected for a 6 week training program which includes trade math, blueprint reading and basic MIG welding instruction.  Accumetal’s hope is to spark (pun intended) their interest in pursuing a skilled trade career in welding. All 7 employees selected for this 6 week training program are Working Together Project participants.

Through this program and assisted by a Canada-Ontario Job Grant, Accumetal is building bright futures for their current employees with good paying positions, benefits and financial security. Combined with the support and guidance that Reception House’s Working Together Program, their employees are now on a strong career path.

Being employed brings a sense of pride and accomplishment to many of the clients we serve.
