Position Status: 6 Month Contract

Hours: 21 hours per week

Start Date: October 2019

Scope of Position: 

The Family Partnership Program Coordinator is responsible for working with volunteers and staff to determine which volunteers will be part of the Family Partnership Program (FPP) and the English Outreach Program (EOP). The Coordinator will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to screen volunteers for the FPP and liaise with staff in implementing and managing the program model.

Responsibilities

  • Implements both targeted and broad-based recruiting strategies for Family Partnership and English Outreach Program volunteers
  • Supports the recruitment, screening and intake of volunteers destined for the FPP and the EO, including any specialty intake processes and requirements
  • Provides public education and builds awareness about the FPP and EOP Programs
  • Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to provide training and professional development opportunities to volunteers, via newsletter, online group moderation or other regularly established communications
  • Maintain accurate and up to date data in Donor Perfect
  • Compile and synthesize check-in data for use in impact stories and evaluation reports
  • Leads the volunteer management cycle and ongoing quality improvement initiatives for the Family Partnership and EO Programs
  • Provide ongoing orientation and matching of volunteers with refugee families
  • Coordinate, schedule and facilitate match meetings and other in person check-ins
  • Plan events in collaboration with community organizations

Education and Work Experience

  • The minimum qualifications for this position are the completion of a post-secondary diploma in Volunteer, Human Resource Management and/ or Business Admin and a minimum of three (3) years of job-related work experience including recruitment and onboarding, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Attributes 

  • Understand and be committed to the Reception House mission (receptionhouse.ca)
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with strong verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Ability to solve complex problems and keen attention to detail
  • Proven track record of implementing successful quality improvement initiatives
  • Committed to anti-oppressive practice and applying a culturally sensitive lens
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the performance of regular duties
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive and databases
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and to work as part of a diverse team
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast paced environment
  • Current Standard First Aid certification or willingness to take training
  • Valid Provincial Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, willingness to travel within the region for recruitment fairs and outreach activities

Assets

  • General knowledge and understanding of the refugee and immigrant sector and issues
  • Ability to help prepare and compile evaluation reports
  • Group facilitation an asset
  • Fluency in a second language
  • Experience working with a diverse population

This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check, a vulnerable sector check and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
