JOINT PRESS RELEASE FROM ROYAL HOMES AND RECEPTION HOUSE WATERLOO REGION

Royal Homes is pleased to announce that we will be supporting Reception House Waterloo Region in their efforts to support and welcome refugees arriving in our community. In 2021 Reception House has supported over 430 refugees resettling in and making our community their new home.

Reception House supports Government Assisted Refugees during their first year in Canada by providing a Warm Welcome as people transition to a new country; connecting people with government supports and services like social benefits, healthcare, and education; helping individuals and families find housing; supporting people to gain employment; and helping people navigate the many other resources, systems, and services that help create a sense of integration and belonging as they settle in the community.

Royal Homes is the Premier Builder of Custom Prefab Homes built in our climate-controlled factory in Wingham, Ontario for delivery to our clients’ building lots throughout Ontario.  The current surge in home building has given Royal Homes and its 200 employees a banner year in very difficult COVID times.  For that we are thankful and would like to help others who are new to our community.

As we have all watched the events of the past year in Afghanistan, which has torn so many families and communities apart, we realize that there is no satisfactory answer to the question “Why” did this happen?  Rather than dwell on “Why” we at Royal Homes asked ourselves the question “What” can we do to help? We would encourage others in our community to also contribute to the work of Reception House.
Pieter Venema, President, Royal Homes

In collaboration with Reception House, Royal Homes will be providing a cash donation of $125,000 to be used by Reception House to provide “First Canadian Home Start-Up Kits” for refugee families, which would include kitchenware, small appliances, toolkits and general household items.

Reception House would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Royal Homes for their generous gift to support the people we serve, we greatly appreciate this significant contribution to refugees resettling in our community. This gift will provide families arriving to Reception House in 2022 with household items like small appliances, kitchen ware, cleaning supplies and tools, and help turn houses into homes for our newest neighbours.
Lynne Griffiths-Fulton, Interim CEO, Reception House

On behalf of Everyone at Royal Homes and Reception House Waterloo Region: we hope that all community members enjoy the holiday and Christmas Season safely with loved ones.
